Please support the work of the Ovarian and Gynecologic Cancer Coalition/Rhonda’s Club!
We will put your donation immediately to work in programs that include:
Patient Support: We distribute patient care bags filled with medical information and comfort items to newly diagnosed gynecologic cancer patients to provide knowledge and encouragement to women in treatment.
We mentor women in treatment for gynecologic cancers by connecting them with survivors to share experiences, support and advice throughout their medical journey.
Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women’s Lives ®: We educate the next generation of physicians by telling our stories of survival to third-year medical students to increase their knowledge of symptoms and improve their clinical practice with the goal of increasing early detection.
Community Outreach: We participate in health fairs and other outreach activities to raise public awareness of symptoms, risk factors, and prevention of gynecologic cancers, particularly in medically underserved areas.
Training Nursing Students: We meet with nursing students to discuss good nursing practices for gynecologic oncology nurses, including managing side effects of chemotherapy and how to talk to patients.
Research Support: Representatives from OGCC/Rhonda’s Club serve as consumer advocates on review boards at the National Cancer Institute and the Department of Defense in support of research into reliable screening tests and more effective treatments of gynecologic cancers. We support Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now.
Financial Assistance: We fund small grants to financially needy gynecologic cancer patients to support medical co-payments or the costs of chemotherapy drugs.
More than $5,000 was raised on closing day in October 2016 during an ovarian cancer awareness day at the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farms. The fundraiser was a huge success with 72 golfers in attendance. OGCC board member, Karen Ribler, is shown accepting a check donated in her honor. The TPC community through its generosity of time, money and spirit dedicated the event’s proceeds to ovarian cancer research and concluded the day as champions!
With your help, we can achieve even more.
Thank you for your generous support!
